Shop Italian and Danish design at D Studio Copenhagen
Design Holding unveils its new retail space in Copenhagen, showcasing furniture and lighting by B&B Italia, Maxalto, Azucena, Arclinea, Flos, and Louis Poulsen within a historical building in Holmen
Iconic Danish and Italian design come together in D Studio Copenhagen, a new furniture design and lighting showroom launched by Design Holding to showcase collections by B&B Italia, Maxalto, Azucena, Arclinea, Flos, and Louis Poulsen. Opening in a 1,760 sq m historic building in Copenhagen’s Holmen neighbourhood (a former Danish naval base now developed into a chic residential area), the retail concept unites the brands under one roof for the first time, combining contemporary pieces and design classics from the Italian and Danish companies.
‘With its status as a world-renowned design capital, Copenhagen is a natural first home of this innovative retail concept,’ announces Design Holding of the project, which is set to be the first of several locations, with Milan scheduled to open during Salone Del Mobile in September 2021 and New York later in autumn.

The store will blend the physical experience with an interactive element, allowing customers to experience the collections and manage their interiors projects, from idealisation to selection, to completion.
The inaugural installation includes reissued design icons from the B&B Italia catalogue, such as Gaetano Pesce’s ‘Up’ chair and Mario Bellini’s ‘Camaleonda’ sofa, referencing the timeless design legacy of the Italian brand. Upstairs, Arclinea kitchens are presented as ‘places for cooking, living, and sharing’, with exclusive projects created by Antonio Citterio for the space.
Lighting is shown throughout the showroom, with Formafantasma’s ‘Wireline’ chandelier for Flos taking centre stage by the arched windows, and Poul Henningsen’s ‘PH’ lamps by Louis Poulsen creating an intimate atmosphere by the dining areas.
As part of the store’s opening, Flos moved its Scandinavian headquarters to the Holmen building, taking over the top floor to show its full decorative, architectural and outdoor lighting collections with the addition of a bespoke service. Lighting is not just presented as products, but as an integral part of the interiors to give customers a clear view of its creative potential. §
